ST PETER’S SUNDAY SCHOOL
Lights ‘Jesus is the Light of the world’
Our Sunday school is called Lights and we meet every week during the 10.15am Sunday service (except the first Sunday of the month when we hold our All Age Worship Service).
The children join the Lights leaders at the altar at the end of the first Hymn, when a short prayer is said for them before they go through to the Chapter House.
The children are taught stories from the Bible, with the aim of introducing them to God and the Lord Jesus and encouraging them to develop their own personal relationship.
Using the Scripture Union “Light” materials, the teaching involves a specific Bible passage each week, with music (songs for the children to learn), a short time of prayer, games, craft activities and drama (and much needed refreshments!). The children will have craft work to take home to remind them of what they have learned.
The children rejoin the service and their parents in time to receive a blessing during communion and the final prayers and hymn. At the end of the service the children share with the congregation what they have learned and this is enjoyed by all! All ages are welcome, although the materials at present are designed for 3 to 8 year olds. Parents are welcome to stay with their children until they feel comfortable attending Lights on their own.
At all times we follow the Parish’s Policy for the Protection of Children and Young People 1998, and as such, we keep a register and ask all parents to complete a registration form for each child in accordance with section 5 of the policy. (link to copy of policy). All leaders have CRB clearance.
If you wish to join all you have to do is come along to a 10.15am service or would like to get more involved with our Sunday school, volunteers are always welcome, please call Liz McHale (Parish Administrator) on 01234 360301
