Worship at the Parish Church of St Peter de Merton with St Cuthbert, Bedford

family commuion

On all Sundays we have services and the pattern of worship at these services is as follows:

Sunday at 9.00am (1st Sunday only)
Holy Communion (Common Worship, Order One)
This is a said service without hymns
There is always a short address.

First Sunday at 10.15am
This is a recent development at St. Peter’s. An ‘All-Age’ of ‘Family’ service where children and adults worship and learn together.
It is generally less formal than other services and usually without Holy Communion

These mid-morning services are all attended by people of all ages.

They are services at which children and their families will feel very much “at home”. The children join the rest of the congregation for the first part of the service before moving through to our Chapter House for the Sunday School. The children return to share in the last part of the service. For those toddlers who prefer to remain with their parent(s) throughout the service, we provide “Busy Bags” to occupy them if they get restless!

All services includes hymns for the congregation and a sermon.

After the morning service, there is a chance for people to meet over a cup of tea or coffee in the Chapter House.

Third Sunday
10.15am Praise & Worship service
A more informal style with good participation

Other Sundays at 10.15am
Parish Communion (2nd, 3rd, 4th & 5th Sundays in the month)

We use a form of service from Common Worship . It is fairly traditional, but using a variety of music and hymns..

Sunday 4.00pm (1st Sunday only)
Evensong (Book of Common Prayer) This opportunity for reflective evening worship is normally sung, with hymns and a sermon.

St Peters Church-8[1]

One of the ways St. Peter’s seeks to live out its Mission Statement is by being there for any who might need it.

Sadly, we cannot leave the church open all the time, but Morning Prayer is said there most weekdays, so the doors are usually open from 9am-9.30am.

This is a time when passers-by can come to share and enjoy the peace and prayer that our ancient space offers.

On Thursdays, Holy Communion is celebrated at 10.30am. (Book of Common Prayer)

On Saturdays, St Peter’s Open Church and Coffee Shop is open between 10am and 11.30am.

We extend a warm welcome to those who come for whatever reason.
